I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. After such a busy December, Astrid & I were able to leave the kids in charge of the house (talk about bravery) & we flew out on Boxing Day for a holiday. A sort of second honeymoon and that’s all I’m going to say on that subject or I won’t make it to a third one.
We flew to Atlanta, Georgia & learned the 4 C’s of all you need to know about Atlanta. They are: Civil War, Civil Rights, Coca Cola & CNN. While touring the city, we went to the Martin Luther Jr. Museum & Memorial which was very inspiring. I always thought the burning of Atlanta was a Civil War issue. At least that was my impression watching ‘Gone with the Wind’. But I realize after being there and finding it freezing cold and not the warm south that I expected, that the fire was a way for the soldiers to keep warm that just went wrong. Astrid said that wasn’t nice of me, and I just did my Rhett Butler and replied “Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn”. Guess making it to my third honeymoon may be getting iffy if I keep this up.
We also drove to Savannah and Charleston. Two historical cities & most interesting. Very little sense of humour though as they didn’t even smile when I asked could they do the dance. All in all a fun 8 days.
We look forward to seeing you often this year and hope that 2010 is an Olympic year for you personally.
